Please come in to the Center and fill out an application during the day. We're in room 233 at 2400 Old Ivy Road (entrance across from University Village Apartments). If no one is available, please see our fiscal tech, Ila Crawford, in room 224.Under federal law, all employees must complete an I-9 Form to document their eligibility to work in the United States no later than the first day in a new position. The University has an online system that allows you to begin this process on your own.
- Please visit www.newi9.com and use Employer Code 14053 to complete Section One of your I-9. You must have a Social Security card to complete Section One of the I-9 online. If you do not have a Social Security card, you must contact your department's I-9 Specialists Jeanne Cushman at email@example.com or (434) 924-4188, or Ila Crawford at firstname.lastname@example.org or (434) 243-5232.
- After you have completed Section One, you will see a list of required ORIGINAL documentation that you must present to your department's I-9 Specialists (either Jeanne Cushman or Ila Crawford) before your first day of work. They will complete your eligibility verification. These documents are outlined in the I-9 Form but they usually consist of two forms of identification (frequently either a driver's license or UVA ID card coupled with either a Social Security card or birth certificate). A passport will act as both forms of identification. You will select which forms of ID to bring when you complete the online form.
- If you do not have access to a computer or are unable to complete Section 1 of the I-9 online prior to your first day, you must complete your I-9 with your department's I-9 Specialist no later than your first day at work.
- For non-U.S. citizens, this offer is also contingent on you securing valid immigration status and work authorization before your expected start date, and maintaining your valid immigration status and work authorization throughout your employment. If you are a UVA student then you should be eligible.
