Uva Sexual Assault Place and Time Survey

CSR worked with a group of MS students in UVAs Data Science program who planned to survey UVa students about recent sexual assaults. They planned to create maps showing the time and location of assaults to identify 'hot spots' for this type of crime. CSR advised on the draft survey instrument. Due to security and privacy concerns no survey was conducted. Instead students obtained de-identified crime reports from the Charlottesville Police and analyzed seasonal time and location trends and created heat maps of the crime occurrences at different times of year.
Survey was not conducted as originally planned due to security and privacy concerns. Project shifted to an analysis of police records of sexual assaults in the City of Charlottesville
