Shayne Zaslow is a Research Analyst at the Center for Survey Research, where he has worked for two and a half years. He is a graduate student at the University of Virginia working towards his Ph.D. in Sociology and is currently conducting research on drag.
Originally from West Hartford, Connecticut, Shayne has also lived in New York City and in Boston. He is a former cheerleader and an avid knitter. He even knows how to spend his own yarn from a pile of fiber!
Every day Shayne is inspired by his friend Brooke, who is the first -- and only -- transgender firefighter in the NYC Fire Department.
What does public service mean to you?
It goes hand and hand with social justice. Public service must not only try to better the world around us but also interrogate inequality and aim to dismantle it.
